Brief Site Description:
Sanming Research Station of Forest Ecosystem and Global Change
Detailed Site Description:

Compared with the same latitude in the other area, Subtropical China is an oasis that conserves the largest evergreen broad-leaved forest by area around the globe thanks to the rise of Tibet Plateau.  This area is densely populated and affected by subtropical monsoon climate, and thus is prone to human disturbance and sensitive to future global change.  Sanming Research Station of Forest Ecosystem and Global Change, built and managed by Fujian Normal University, is situated in the Castanopsis Kawakamii Nature Reserve of Sanming, which harbors one of the most typical evergreen broad-leaved natural forests in Subtropical China as well as some other managed forests including Chinese-fir plantation, assisted naturally regenerated secondary forest, etc. In these forests,  Sanming Research Station of Forest Ecosystem and Global Change have set up a series of experimental platforms mainly including soil warming experimental platform, precipitation exclusion experimental platform, nitrogen addition experimental platform, forest hydrology experimental platform, forest management experimental platform. Through these experimental platforms, the following scientific questions will be addressed: 1 Will the natural forest, mature forest plantation, and young forest plantation response differently to future climate warming? 2 How will climate warming affect the productivity of forest plantation? 3 How will soil microbial process of forest plantation response to rainfall reduction?  4 How will nitrogen addition affect the diversity of both belowground microbial guild and aboveground plant, and what may be the interactions between them? 5 How will forest managements and forest types affect the hydrological process?
