The Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at Case Western Reserve University seeks candidates for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2022–2023 academic year starting August 22, 2022. We seek candidates with a broad background in the geosciences who will contribute to teaching and research in the department. The successful candidate will teach courses related to climate and the environment and may have the opportunity to advise undergraduate students in research projects. Courses to be taught could include hydrogeology, sedimentary geology, geochemistry, or other upper-level courses in the candidate’s specialty, plus introductory courses. The successful candidate will be committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Department and University. Previous experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives and/or interacting with members of underrepresented communities are considered assets.

The expected course load for each position is three courses per year. The position requires completion of the PhD degree by August 1, 2022 and a record of research and teaching commensurate with rank.

The applicant should submit an application via InterFolio (http://apply.interfolio.com/103741) that includes (1) a cover letter that addresses their qualifications and how they will contribute to teaching and research in the Department, (2) a diversity statement that explains how diversity, equity, and inclusion inform their past and/or future professional experience (scholarship, teaching, service) with further details available on the application webpage, and (3) a CV. Applicants should also arrange to have two letters of recommendation submitted via the application website by April 22, 2021. Other correspondence may be sent to Beverly Saylor, Search Committee Chair, Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at eeps-vap-search@case.edu.
