The integration of data across field sites is greatly fascilitated by the use of consistent field methods and analysis tools. To that end, CZEN serves as a clearing house of member-contributed field protocols and data-analysis tools and techniques. All members are encouraged to contribute to this collection. Members can upload field method or tool specification files, link to existing materials hosted elsewhere, or create a dedicated group work space. Access to these materials can be open to everyone, restricted to all registered CZEN users, or in the case of group space, to members granted membership to the group.
CZEN relationship to CZNet
CZEN worked closely with the former Critical Zone Observatories (CZO) NSF national program that focused on 9 U.S observatories and served the critical zone science community through research, infrastructure, data, and models. In December 2020, the CZO program was succeeded by the Critical Zone Collaborative Network (CZNet).
