Open position: Professor in Surface Geology & Geochemistry at Université du Québec à Montréal

The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is looking for qualified candidates with teaching and research experience in environmental geology and geochemistry. Application files with the following research themes will be prioritized: geological and geochemical characterization of soils; assessment of environmental risks associated with the release of contaminants into the environment; remediation of contaminated sites; interactions between soil and surficial/geological environments (critical zone framework).

The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Department of Earth and atmospheric sciences and will be encouraged to develop a dynamic research program within the department and associated research center GEOTOP ( The research program must demonstrate the potential for collaborations with researchers working in disciplines such as hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry, isotope and environmental geochemistry, and surface geology (pedology, geomorphology).


  • PhD in the field of geology and environmental geochemistry
  • Research experience in the above field and a good record of publications
  • Proficiency in the French language, both oral and written
