The Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for the Morton K. Blaustein Postdoctoral Fellowship. The duration of the fellowship is one year with an anticipated extension for a second year. The position carries a salary of $65,000 per year (plus fringe benefits), includes an annual $5,000 stipend for travel and research expenses, and provides eligibility to participate in the Johns Hopkins University health plans. We seek outstanding individuals with a recent Ph.D. in any area of Earth, Planetary and/or Environmental Sciences and with strong links to departmental research interests. In recent years the department has made faculty hires in the areas of geobiology, paleontology and meteorology, complementing standing strength in climate, oceanography, atmospheric science, geology, petrology, Earth history, biogeochemistry, mineral physics, geophysics, planetary science, exoplanetary science and ecology. Candidates for the Fellowship should be engaged in research on the science of climate change, with an emphasis on process-based understanding of the climate system, in particular the ocean and atmosphere. Research relevant to problems of anthropogenic change and/or that deploys interdisciplinary approaches is particularly welcome.
