Legacy nitrogen in soils, sediment and surface/groundwaterbodies is increasingly recognized as an impediment to water quality goals, and remains difficult to quantify at a variety of scales. Integration of both the hydrologic and biogeochemical processes controlling nitrogen time lags offers researchers and policymakers more realistic perspectives on projected environmental outputs. The purpose of this session is to bring together leading researchers focusing on different areas of this field, in order to facilitate and encourage cross-disciplinary discussion.
