CZO Town Hall at AGU tomorrow! Thursday, Dec. 14th at 12:30 pm

To all AGU attendees & Critical Zone scientists ...
Please come to the CZO Town Hall tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 14th at 12:30 in room 208-209 to discuss the future of CZO with NSF program officers. What will the future of CZO look like? It could range from observatories that are physical infrastructure only to CZOs that are similar to observatories today with added emphasis on cross-site work. Come and learn and voice your opinion. Students are welcome too!

CZO Town Hall — Thursday, Dec. 14th at AGU 2017

The U.S. CZO program will host a town hall, "Critical Zone Observatories: Platforms for Collaborative Science", on Thursday, December 14 during the 2017 AGU Fall meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. The town hall is scheduled for 12:30 -13:30 in the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center rooms 208-209. Please join us for a lively discussion and light refreshments.

Interactive Webinar - Harmonizing scale & process representation across CZ models - CZO/LTER/NEON/ISMC - Dec 6th, 9 AM MT

We invite you to join an interactive discussion on the spatiotemporal scales, process representation, and motivating science questions by modelers involved in the CZO, LTER, ISMC, and NEON communities.

Register for hands-on, pre-AGU workshop: Distributed temperature and acoustic sensing (DTS/DAS)

Consider going to this hands-on workshop, scheduled for the two days before the AGU Fall Meeting in New Orleans:

The Cutting Edge of Fiber Optics: Temperature and Acoustic Applications in Earth Science  - Principles, Operation, Data Analysis, and Demonstrations.

LandLab Modeling Toolkit - Short Course at GSA 2017

Dear Colleagues,

If you are attending GSA and interested in learning quick modeling tricks in earth surface processes using a web browser, please join our Landlab short course:

Landlab Earth Surface Modeling Toolkit: Building and Applying Models of Coupled Earth Surface Processes

When/Where: Oct. 21. 8am-5pm. Washington State Convention Center (WSCC)

Goldschmidt 2017 — Free Deep Carbon Observatory Workshop: Keep Your Samples Alive (and Connected)!

Does your research involve collecting, analyzing, and storing physical samples such as rock or mineral specimens, cores of sediment, soil, ice, and other materials, and water or gas samples? If the answer is yes, please join us for a lunch workshop at the 2017 Goldschmidt Conference to learn about tools available for registering your samples.

AGU Fall Meeting H130: Use-inspired catchment science and scientifically grounded watershed management

Dear CZEN Network,

Please see the information below on our session at the 2017 AGU Fall Meeting in New Orleans.

The session will showcase basic critical zone science that informs best practice in watershed management.

The session is co-convened by myself, Heather Gall (Penn State), Ciaran Harman (JHU), and Sally Thompson (UC Berkeley).
