CZEN Field Site Application

The Critical Zone Exploration Network (CZEN) is a network of research sites, people and data. CZEN sites were envisioned as a network of sites to investigate the Critical Zone by exploring environmental gradients. In the U.S. the site network currently consists of 8 seed or satellite sites. In addition, we also include three NSF-funded Critical Zone Observatories (CZO). We seek partners working in a watershed or drainage basin who demonstrate a willingness to post and share: 1) mineralogical and geochemical data obtained from soil cores from ground surface to bedrock within the study basin; and 2) soil pore, rain, stream or groundwater flow and chemistry data. If interested, please fill out the following form. At this point we are gathering names and information from interested parties; data gathering will occur at a later point in time.
