The National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Geosciences Division of Earth Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Program Director for the Surface Earth Processes Section’s Hydrologic Sciences Program.
The Hydrologic Sciences program supports theoretical, observational, and experimental research and modeling of water processes including precipitation and evapotranspiration, snow accumulation and melting, overland and channel flow and transport, and subsurface (vadose zone, aquifers) flow, biogeochemical reactions and chemical fate and transport. Subfields encompassed by HS include: Hydrometeorology, Ecohydrology, Aquatic Geochemistry, Erosion and Sedimentation, Solute Flow and Transport, Flood Analysis, Low Flows and Drought Geohydrology, Snow, Wetlands and Lakes.
EAR supports proposals for research geared toward improving the understanding of the structure, composition and evolution of the Earth and the processes that govern the formation and behavior of the Earth's materials. The results of this research will create a better understanding of the Earth's changing environments and the natural distribution of its mineral, water and energy resources. They will also provide methods for predicting and mitigating the effects of geologic hazards such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods and landslides. Additional information about EAR and its programs can be found at http://www.nsf.gov/div/index.jsp?div=EAR.
