ChemXSeer is a portal for academic researchers in environmental chemistry that integrates the scientific literature with experimental, analytical and simulation result datasets. ChemXSeer goes one step further than being a traditional search engine and digital library for two main reasons:
Novel Search Features for Scientific Literature
We are developing algorithms for extracting tables, figures, equations and formulae from scientific documents to enable users to search on those fields. Traditional information extraction methodologies and search engines do not fully address the requirements of scientific data. ChemXSeer provides the following search features for scientific documents:
* Full text search,
* Author, affiliation, title and venue search,
* Figure and table search,
* Equation and formulae search,
* Citation and acknowledgement search,
* Citation linking and statistics.
Dataset Search
Chemistry is one of the many scientific domains where reuse of data promotes a significant increase in productivity, and facilitates discovery and understanding. We are developing tools to facilitate the annotation and distribution of experimental data to further advance the scientific collaboration in the field of chemistry.
We believe that ChemXSeer portal will prove to be a significant hub for research in chemistry by facilitating search and access to both scientific literature and experimental datasets, while bridging these two information sources within a unified framework.
