The first sequence (0 -> 18) records calcite dissolution in a carbonate buffered solution to which MgCl2 has been added, and shows etch pit morphologies developing from the typical step-selective inhibition of this metal; the second sequence (19 -> 34) shows the surface dissolving in the identical buffered solution with Mg absent. The data were collected by myself and Kevin Davis in 2003, and only parts of this sequence have been published.Attach file:
